The Vision of the American Physical Therapy Association is “Transforming society by optimizing movement to improve the human experience”(www.apta.org/vision/ ). As physical therapists and autonomous healthcare providers we frame our practice around the patient client management model (PCMM) for patients and clients across the lifespan, throughout the continuum of care, and at all levels of wellness and health. This framework includes five major elements of practice: examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis (including a plan of care) and intervention. However, to truly transform society and improve the human experience we must embrace our multidimensional role as health care providers, educators, advocates, managers, and leaders.  As students in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program you will explore various aspects of physical therapy, which will help you ultimately define your future role as a physical therapist.
