The day I presented my in-service was a hospital-wide disaster. The computer system had failed. The electronic medical record was unresponsive. The internet was unpredictable. And for me, my own mini-disaster occurred. After disconnecting the computer monitor to the projector, the projector broke. I was unable to re-hook the computer monitor and I was unable to look at a projected image; I presented entirely by memory. And to the audience’s surprise- it went well! My presentation had physical demonstrations, a lively discussion, and a thoughtful question and answer period. Despite being a roller coaster of a day, this presentation has been one of my favorite experiences during my clinical internships.
